Old Bacon Academy Repairs ($1300) - The Trustees of Historic Bacon Academy have been raising money to repair the roof and cupola of the old Bacon Academy building. Our donation will support the repairs to help maintain this historic building.
Honor Rotary Thanksgiving Basket Drive ($1300) - The Honor Rotary works with Colchester Social Services to provide a traditional Thanksgiving meal to those in need in Colchester. Our donation, along with others in the community, helped the Honor Rotary distribute 120 baskets over Thanksgiving. Benches for Soccer Fields ($1300) - Our donation will go to the Colchester Soccer Club - CSC to help fund sturdy benches for soccer field sidelines for home and away teams to use during games. Commission on Aging ($1,133) - this organization advocates and supports the needs of the 55+ community. They run a health fair every year and create a resource guide that educates and informs seniors about valuable resources and services. They rely on donations to support any programs, speakers, etc. that support the community.
Senior Center Programs ($1,133) - The Colchester Senior Center holds 150-175 programs per month. These programs are not funded by tax dollars, so donations help cover instructor fees and program supplies to keep these programs affordable or when possible, free. Colchester Baseball Softball League ($1,133) - The Cody Camp baseball field behind JJIS was built in 2010 in honor of a young boy who died of Burkitt's Lymphoma. The field conditions have deteriorated and require constant upkeep from parent volunteers. This donation will support field improvements and provide a better experience for CBSL players using the field. Bacon Academy Senior College Scholarship, $1200:
This will be our group's 4th year offering a scholarship to a graduating senior who has been accepted into a 4 year college/university. The recipient will be chosen by the Bacon Academy Guidance Department. Cold Spring Farm, $1200: One of our town's great farms lost many of their outbuildings and greenhouses during the last storm that brought strong, damaging winds to Colchester. Our donation will aid in these repairs. Economic Development Commission of Colchester. $1200: The EDC is a volunteer based group that works to promote the business and industrial resources of the town of Colchester. This includes bringing out of town patrons into Colchester businesses, and enticing new businesses to come to Colchester. The EDC does not currently have an operating budget. Colchester Fire Cadets, $1,200 - our donation will help send some of our young Fire Cadets to an intensive overnight First Responder training camp as they prepare to support our communities as EMT's and Fire Fighters.
Support for a family in need, $1,200 - we are supporting a family in town who experienced hardship this January. Colchester Lions Club, $1,200 - The Lions Club supports so many in our community, from Veterans to sports teams to those needing an extra boost during the holidays. Our donation will help support these giving initiatives. We donated to the following causes in October of 2023.
Honor Rotary. A Foundation for Colchester, Inc. Amount: $1200 Funds will support Honor Rotary's creation of a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner for those in need in Colchester. They work with Colchester Social Services to distribute. Colchester is Kind Community Meal Amount: $1200 Our donation will fund the second annual Thanksgiving Community Meal, hosted by Colchester is Kind founder Michelle Noehren, which focuses on bringing community members in Colchester together for a farm to table meal that supports Colchester local businesses. Colchester Land Trust Amount: $1200 Colchester Land Trust has been instrumental in preserving 783 acres of open space in the town of Colchester, and our funds support this continued initiative. This donation is being matched by the CLT Endowment Fund, all donations sent here through June 2025 will be matched, ultimately benefiting Colchester Land Trust two-fold. We donated to the following causes in July 2023:
$1,233 to the Colchester Senior Center Making Memories Program, an important ongoing program that supports Seniors in town. $1,233 for Melissa Deacon's initiative to create/improve/restore pollinator gardens throughout Colchester's schools and Castle, a project sponsored by the Colchester Garden Club. $1,233 towards the creation of a Coloring/Activity book starring Skipper the Facility dog to help School Resource Officer Corporal Scheel connect with students as he works/visits Colchester schools with the k9. We donated to the following causes in April of 2023:
$1,366 to the Colchester Giving Garden A volunteer run garden in Colchester that donates all grown food to Colchester Food bank and local soup kitchens. Funds will be used to maintain and improve the gardens. $1,366 to Colchester Federated Church Colchester Federated Church has begun a Capital Campaign to raise funds to repair the facade of the historic church, the backdrop of Colchester's town green and a part of the town seal. $1,366 to Colchester Youth Services This donation will fund new chairs and other supplies for the Youth Center in Colchester, dedicated to giving students a safe place to socialize after school hours. We donated to the following causes in January 2023:
$1,100 to Freezin for a Reason - this group camps out on the green every February to raise money and awareness for the Colchester Fuel Bank. $1,100 to Colchester Fire Cadets - our donation will help fund EMT training for Fire Cadets ready to become EMT's. $1,100 to Bacon Academy Senior Scholarship - our donation will go to a deserving Bacon Academy Senior who has been accepted into a 4 year college this coming Fall. In October 2022, our members voted to give to the following causes:
$1,000 to Colchester Senior Center Holiday Box Program with Jack Jackter Intermediate School -- JJIS students help put together holiday boxes for Seniors in need, and our donation will support adding in gift cards. $1,000 to Rose 'n' Petal Farm -- We are helping support operations of this wonderful farm that specializes in perennials, herbs and soil. You can visit the Farmstand on Rt. 149 and find their goods at the Colchester Farmer's Market. $1,000 to the Fuel Bank - We are donating money to the Fuel Bank, run by Youth and Social Services Town of Colchester, to support those in need during the colder months as fuel prices continue to be high. $1,066 to Friends of Cragin Memorial Library
